  1. I’ll begin to explain that I saw before this painting of Edvard Munch, I don´t remember where, maybe it was in some book, or some museum or some program of art, in tv, I am not sure...

My interpretation of it maybe is not like an expert people, for example an art critic or an other artist who can understand better the painting, however my personal opinion is that this image produced in me an anguish and despair sensations. I believe that the man is suffering a lot and the people are not interested in his problems, hence I think that he feels alone and perhaps is going to exploit.

  2. “The scream”, by Eduard Munch, is a very interesting picture. When I saw this picture the first time I felt despaired. It made me feel afraid and anxious, it was a deep feeling that I can not explain. I think that I would call this picture real art, because it made me feel different emotions.
I read something about the author of this picture that made me understand the real meaning of it. Edward Munch had a really bad life when he was just a kid; his father was very strict. Besides that, Eduard Munch saw how his mother and sister died. I think that it is something very shocking for a kid.
In my mind I thought about how I would feel if I see someone dying, and I did not like it. I think that Edward Munch expressed his feelings and emotions in this picture, in that difficult moment of his life.

  3. Well, firstly I don´t have words to describe what did I really feel when I saw the picture "The Scream", by Edward Munch.

But, the thing I really admire about the picture is the way that the artist painted, because if you examine the background you can see the man that is backwards the man who is with the scram face.

I think that the artist wanted to show the way he felt, because the face and the form that he mixtures the colors, the ones that are like colors wich you can feel a deep sense inside of you and looking to the scream, remind me that sometimes I feel like that picture and its sure sometimes nobody can help you and you are like AGHHH!but this have only one sense to me, existencial angst.

  4. For me this image speaks of a person that his life was very quiet,
a person who wanted to express it differently, the type of paint
used is very strange character who seems to believe that it is
expressing their feelings like the artist wanted to reflect. I
I think this character was punished for what he is doing as a gesture
despair. This image intrigues me the truth is not what to think, I
view it is very quiet, the bad is not how to express what
    sorry to see this painting.

  5. This paint was named "The Scream" and it was done bye the famous artist Eduard Munch.
Well first I wanto say that it is a good work because I can feel something no exactly but that the artist in that moment was upset about a situation that he live may be he lost a partner or he was alone in that moment.
Well this are the feelings that the artist would like us to feel when we see the picture on the wall in front of our faces.
First of all I feel bad because he looks like if she is screaming and I have a sensation of sadness

  6. This famous painting was made from 1893 to 1910, some authors think that this is an expressionalist painting.
Actually, they also exist some few versions of this paiting. The Munch Museum holds one of two versions and the National Gallery of Norway holds the other painted version.

The scream has been the target of several high-profile art thefts.
In my personal opinion, this painting seems to be very strange for me, but it looks like the author had some feelings to express and he express them the way he wanted.

  7. "The scream" by Edvard Munch is a really good painting. I like it but, at the time, it makes me feel scared and lost. Honestly I like the technique that the author used, it seems like something soft. Also there is a man, or something like a man, in the back of the one who is screaming, and he is just looking at him.
When I saw this painting before, I didn't want to see it again.

In my opinion the author wanted to say what he was feeling in that moment, the moment that he painted "The Scream". I think, maybe he had problems and with the paint he took them out of his head.

I can say this painting is real art, because it expresses feelings, but also causes feelings. The author just had an idea and he expressed it.

This paiting is titled "The Scream" by Edvard Munch, is a paiting that conveys variety of things, but each one thinks what he sees in the painting, this paiting for me is a kind sentimental expressed by the type of color and shape how are jobs.
I noticed that the paiting is by a painter`s work that expresses what he thinks and is mainly in his imagination.
I liked the paiting, it`s a good piece of art.

  9. This painting by Edvard Munch for me is weird because the paint is sad, i dont know why but just view it i start thinking about the feelings that the author wants to convey in the painting whith this face of sad or scared. But realy this painting is beauty and interesting.

I think the autor tries to tell us something of his life that he did´t likes. I like this painting by the combination of colors that he use.

  10. This painting "The scream" by edvard Munch, is a very good painting.
I really admire the picture because the man (Like a ghost) is express(feelings) the fear in his or the all the fear in the world.

I think that the background in the painting is very sad, because i think that express the fear in the world, the contamination in rivers, in mountains and the pollution in the air.

I think that this painting is art because it gives something to talk about.

  11. "The scream" by Edvard Munch.

This picture is very shocking for me. It transmit deep emotions like fear and anxiety. It seems that the character is being trapped in a place with no way out. In my opinion the character behind the main one could be the "death" that is comming for him. The main character already knows that there is no chance to scape from his own destiny.

  12. The paint is named the scream. But isn't that weird? I mean, a scream is a sound and we can't see sounds. or can we? If Bethoveen could play a "moonlight" on piano, why couldn't we look at a scream on a painting.
Oh! but is he/she really screaming? Maybe you have felt the sensation that you see something horrible and you try to scream but no matter how much you open your mouth any sound come out from your throat.

And another question. Is it really a person? Look carefuly, it has strange face and no hair. Actually it looks more like a soul... for me. After anilizing the picture a little more it remeinded me of a character from the Greek Mythology. Caronte was a boatman who paddled around the Aquerón river looking for souls of people who have just died. If the soul had money to pay the trip, Caronte carried it to the inferno where Hades was. Nevertheless, if the soul didn't have money to pay, it would be punished by sataying through the river until Caronte agree to pick it up to hell.

And the painting shows exactly how do I imaging the expression of a soul who couldn't pay Caronte. But am I trying to define what did the author wanted to express or am I explaining what the painting causes on me? In other words: Is the soul screaming at me or is it screaming as a reaction of something?

Because, if we're looking for the author's feelings, here they are:

"I was walking along with two friends- the sun was setting- suddenly the sky turned blood red- I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence. There was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city- my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety- and i sensed an infinite scream passing through nature"

He mentioned 2 friends and on the painting only apears one... well in fact that's not a mistery. Is because the picture in our blog was cut and it only shows us one Munch's friend. But why did they look so calm on the painting? Why did they keep walking on? Didn't they realize of what was happening? or it was all Munch imagination?

    Reality or fiction?
    However... it's art!

(even though I don't like the thecnique... haha)

  13. The paint “scream” by Edward Munch is amazing, when I saw it, a lot of ideas and feelings came to me, the most important feeling that I can describe is desperation to live in a different world, but, why a different world? Well I think that because the scene is very weird, the sky is red and the ground is blue but it looks like turbid water and that cause the idea that the man or woman screams of desperation but it looks that he or she is scare too.

Another important detail is that the person is looking to the left side like trying to look backward and I think that can represent the problems or the bad life that he had in the past.

This picture is a great example of expressionistic art because the artist is trying to show his feeling with different aspect of the painting, like color and shapes that cause different kind of feelings in a person.

  14. The scream. It makes me feel weird. I don´t really know if it makes me feel kind of afraid of something, something that i can interpretated like the doomsday, according to the colors of the backgrounds.
It is clearly a sunset, because the red themes.
It makes me think that the "person" that is screaming is actually trying to get out of the painting or screaming forthe outside. I think so for the type of movement that is doing this character, his curved body and the position of his hands are some points for me to believe this.
For the context, i think the same as the others. That he had a hard life, and he just wanted to transmit that to the world.

  15. My opinion for Alam´s comment is:

I think that your comments about the painting are very interesting. I liked your words when you said that “the main one had the death behind his back”. I didn´t think it in the same way... however I believe that is valid that you have this perception because each person can find different interpretations of the same painting, as our personalities and experiences.

I think that it could be very distressing for a person to feel the experience of being chased by the death, but I think that some people, in case of an accident, might experience these feelings when they perceive are dying...

  16. The Scream

I saw in the worship. If I were there, screaming of everything that happens in my life. I would like, if I was with Edward Munch, I ask that you feel when he paint the picture; I wonder if maybe he thought he wanted to have an escape for some thinks.

I love the colors tat make extravagant, with great contrast in the painting. It is just beautiful.

  17. Isaac, it's very interesting what you say in your comment. Its true that the guy screaming is kind of a soul. For me is more like Voldemort watching the coming Abada Kedabra spell and screaming just before he die, you know J.K. Rowling xD.
Coming back to the painting, also you said that the original intention of Munch was to represent a real moment of his life, where were to friends of him. I googled a little bit and i found the picture with the two guys in it.[http://www.sjsu.edu/faculty/harris/munch.scream.jpg]
    P.D. i liked your last reflexion ^^

  18. My opinion for Alejandra´s comment is:

Alejandra Castellanos, I like your comment because you talk about what you think of the author´s technique, and I think it is something very interesting.
I want to tell you that I felt the same when I saw this picture, I felt afraid and despaired, and as you said, when I saw this painting I didn´t want to see it again. Besides that, I think that the technique that the author used is not soft (you said that it is soft) I think this technique is kind of sharp, and it makes the picture more attractive.
I really liked something that you said about the author´s reason to make this painting: “I think, maybe he had problems and with the paint he took them out of his head.” I really think that doing something you like, you can take your problems out of your mind, I do it sometimes, when I feel stressed I just paint or listen music to feel better. You made a good comment.

This paint is called the Scream, by Edvard Munch.
It´s scary because the colors are like dark and blood. My interpretation is, the guy is in a dock runnning because La Parca (the other guy in the painting) is behind him. and he doesn´t want to die yet. The color of the sky represent mistery and darkness.
But after read the Munch´s description:
I think that Munch was with two friends, they were walkink in a dock, but one of the friends fell down into the water and something ate him, so the water turned red. And Munch was screaming because he was shocked.

this is an amazing piece of art, and i think I have seen it before.

All of my classmates works were excelent, was difficult to find the best comments.

    But one inspired me.

Isaac`s comment was excelent, he said that the paiting shows exactly how do I imaging the expression of a soul who couldn`t pay Caronte.

The expression for me was excelent and the form of the imagination on all of the work of Isaac was ausumn.

And another comment that was a good work was for Fernanda when she says that she doesn`t explicate than the expert people.

  21. Isaac, I read your comment and I am totally agreed with you. Most of us said that there was a man screaming, but, is he or she really a person? I liked almost all what you said, the questions that you made, and the comparison with the Greek Mythology and how you expressed the author’s feelings. Also, I hadn’t realized that the painting was cut, so I searched for the complete one and you’re right.
I just had one thing I’m not agreed with, I did like the technique, but I don’t criticize you for that. =)

I like the comment of Francisco Orozco because he talks about what he felt when he saw the paint, and the other point is that he interpretate the paint,, what did Munch feel when he painted this piece of art...
the other part is that he said that a paint shows us what the actor want we to feel.

It´s single but he shows points that the other classmates don´t.

  23. Comment to Diego:
Well I in one part I agree with your comment in the one that you say that he wants to express all the problem that we are having with the contamination but If we think about that point on the year that the artist made this piece of art they didn´t have too many problems like we have it today with de dirty rivers and with the green house effects.
And with the comment that I agree with you is with the one that you talk about the feelings that may be in that moment the actor was upset or he had problems with his family or in a relationship.
Also in the one that it produce some sensations and that it also change someones.
